Another *sigh* Review

Well, it had to happen eventually. This just goes to show that you can't please everyone: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_reviews_info.php?products_id=5862&reviews_id=11281

I'm not sure what else people are looking for at a $1 cost. And not creative enough? I have to disagree (as do all the other reviews before it). But everyone's entitled to their opinions. Even this guy.

Yeah, that's a pretty vague review. Personally, as a buyer (of print or PDF products) I put a lot more stock in comprehensive reviews on sites like ENWorld or rpg.net.

At any rate, I like it. I printed out the Magic Missle one to use once my poor little rogue gets enough XP to take a spellcasting level.

There is no qualification on EnWorld about the comprehensiveness of reviews. In fact there are many, many, short or inaccurate reviews. Much like the two The Le Games got late last week.

I do admit many of the review by customers at Rpgnow are terrible limited. Staff reviews tend to be a little more comprehensive, but they can only review what they have time for (and there is 8 of them) compared to the open system at EnWorld.

My biggest problem with that review is that it doesn't say what the book is about. An adequate summary is missing, all we know is he doesn't think he will use it in his campaign

While the reviews on EnWorld vary in quality, there are quite a few folks on there who consistently write very detailed reviews.

I would also hazard a guess that most EnWorld reviews are longer than two sentences + 2 words. The reviewer on RPGnow should have at least taken the time to write the review in Haiku form.

Also, you could take it as a positive. He reviewed your work, and gave you two stars, not one. You could also glean a little bit of constructive criticism from the review (having the one variant in the PDF be a farming spell didn't go over so well).

Two stars isn't bad for BtS:MM which I consider the weakest of the lot.

I was finding my sea legs, so to speak, with this first issue. In hindsight, it isn't my best work. But I still think the whole series concept is plenty creative. [That last comment had very poor grammar so I deleted it. :)]
