Surgery Successful

Thanks all for the well wishes, everyone. My dad is fine after having 2 stents put in (there were 2 blockages at 90%). He's being put on some drugs to keep this from happening again (or at least in the near future--we know how these things go sometimes and my dad isn't exactly the healthiest eater). Fortunately the whole thing was over in just over 24 hours since yesterday. He's staying overnight and must stay away from work for a week. All's well.

Glad to hear it went well. Eating well is difficult (for me, at least) but maybe this will motivate him. Healthy diet and medication go a long way towards preventing blocked arteries and high cholesterol, etc. I'm still trying to get my cholesterol back to a reasonable level.

Just make sure he knows that the stents arent a miracle cure. Yes, the arterial plaque that built up on the insides of his arteries wont stick to the inside of the stents, however it will in fact stick to the edges of the ends of the stents.

Happened to my dad a few times. With the medications, it takes a lot longer to build up...but it still does.

Glad to hear all is well though.

Good to hear - hopefully this keeps anything more serious from cropping up. In some ways, this might have been a good thing - at least the blockages were addressed before they caused a stroke, or a heart attack.

Keep us posted - hope things prove to be nothing but smooth sailing from here.

I'm glad he's doing well; my father had a stent put in about 2 years ago. Excercise & diet definitely do go a long way. Dad's starting to slide, but he's got meds to lean on, I guess. Anyway, I'm glad your father's ok.

Back At It

Let's jump back in, shall we?  Still driving legal drugs around as my main job but also still plugging away with writing work under Tri...
